DC vs SRH: For Us, It Is Just Going Back To The Drawing Board – Kane Williamson After 21-Run Defeat vs Delhi Capitals

Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost by 21 runs against Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 50th IPL 2022 game at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, May 5.

Winning the toss and bowling first, all Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers except Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a poor performance. Delhi Capitals’ David Warner and Rovman Powell went berserk against the SRH bowling unit and in the end, DC scored 207/3.

Chasing the target, both the Sunrisers Hyderabad openers were dismissed inside the powerplay itself. Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran once again played good knocks while batting in the middle-order. However, it was not enough to bag a win and SRH were handed over their 3rd consecutive defeat.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Kane Williamson lauded DC batters David Warner and Rovman Powell for their fantastic knocks. He also said that for SRH it is “just going back to the drawing board”. He said:

“I mean they had a fantastic total. As a batting unit, we had a lot of belief. You know for us it is just going back to the drawing board. Outstanding knock from David Warner and later by Powell.”

Williamson asserted that the season has been a fantastic learning opportunity for everyone. He also said that Umran Malik has been a fantastic find. SRH skipper stated:

“Fantastic learning opportunities for everyone. Umran has been a fantastic find. You learn from the best when you come up against them. Things can change quickly if we put things together.”

He signed off by lauding the duo of Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran and said that they will just have to be patient. He said:

“They have had rhythm batting in the middle order. Those two (Pooran and Markam) have been good. Just trying to play a role for the team. Staying patient. Every team is strong. Trying to contribute to the team’s cause.”
