Dinesh Karthik was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 auction. The franchise paid a price of Rs. 5.50 crores for the wicketkeeper-batsman. Karthik kept a base price of Rs. 2 crores in IPL 2022 auction. In the last season, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Dinesh Karthik has been part of Indian Premier League since the first season in IPL 2008. Over the years, he has played for different franchises. He has a long record in the tournament. So far, the wicketkeeper-batsman has played 213 IPL games and accounts for 4046 runs.
From IPL 2008 to IPL 2010, Karthik was a member of Delhi Daredevils. In his debut season, he played 13 matches and scored 145 runs. In IPL 2011, he was picked by Kings XI Punjab. Playing 14 games in the season, the right-handed batsman scored 282 runs.
In the next two seasons IPL 2012 and 2013, Karthik was part of Mumbai Indians. Delhi Daredevils again picked him in the 2014 season. Royal Challengers Bangalore grabbed him in the 2015 season. In IPL 2016 and IPL 2017, Karthik was part of Gujarat Lions.
In IPL 2018, Dinesh Karthik joined Kolkata Knight Riders. He remained with the team till the last season. He also led the team during his tenure with the franchise. Last year in IPL 2021, Karthik played 17 matches and scored 223 runs. Ahead of IPL 2022 auction, KKR released him from the squad.
