Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya was a happy skipper after his team put on a clinical display against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MCA Stadium in Pune to seal their second win of the tournament.

They are yet to lose a game and GT will be keen to carry the momentum into the next game. The satisfying part for Hardik as a captain was the contribution from each individual and the way they complemented each other.

Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson bowled brilliantly in tandem while Shubman Gill and Hardik himself built a huge partnership for the third wicket that ended up helping them set up a total of 171 on the board.

Really happy with the way boys are coming out and contributing. The kind of attack we have, we always felt that we can make a score that’s 10 under-par look like 25 above.”

I thought there were periods where Delhi was ahead, but then that Lockie over really changed things for us. We were about 10-15 short. But with the bowling we have, I’m confident of making it up in the field,” Hardik said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Hardik lavished praise on the young Gill, who registered his highest score in the IPL. He played confidence-filled strokes and his free-flowing batting helped the others take their time and settle in.

This is the Shubman we all want to see and I hope all the other batters can take confidence from him,” Hardik said.

We were one bowler short with Aaron’s injury, had to take it as deep as possible and it worked for us. Till Rishabh was there, the game was in the balance or maybe Delhi was ahead, and that over from Lockie really turned it for us,” he added.
