Former England spinner Graeme Swann said Umran Malik is an exceptional talent that IPL didn’t see over the last few years.
Malik continued to allure the cricket world with his bowling prowess as the Jammu & Kashmir speedster tormented Gujarat Titans batters with his sheer pace on Wednesday.
In their chase of 196, Gujarat Titans got off to a flier with Wriddhiman Saha’s splendid batting display.

As the Titans marched with a opening stand of 69, that is when Malik stepped up for SRH and knocked Shubman Gill’s stumps in the eighth over.
The youngster used the short ball ploy to outplay Titans skipper Hardik Pandya. Malik nailed the yorker to shatter Saha’s defense. He castled David Miller and Abhinav Manohar in the final two deliveries of his stupendous spell and bagged maiden five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.

Umran Malik has got good areas and he is rapid: Graeme Swann
Malik’s 5/25 went in vain as no other SRH bowler was able to pick wickets against Gujarat Titans. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan stormed Titans to a five-wicket win with a thrilling finish in the final over.
Titans required 22 to win from the last six deliveries as Tewatia smashed Marco Jansen for a six on the first ball. Vice-captain Rashid tonked three sixes in the last four balls to pull off a sensational win.
“On the way to the ground, I’m genuinely excited to watch SRH bowl. Not only have they got 8 foot 15 Jansen bowling good left-arm pace, but Umran Malik, he has brought to the IPL something that we have not seen for a few years,” Swann told Cricket.com.

“A fresh fast bowler, out-and-out pace. Dale Steyn has said to him, ‘I don’t want you to worry about line and length, get the seam up, bowl as quick as you can. That’s your strongest suit.’ But he’s got good control, he’s got good areas and he is rapid. I love that,” he added.
With the spectacular win, Gujarat Titans regained their top position on the points table with 14 points in eight games. Hardik and his men will meet RCB on April 30.
Meanwhile, SRH will play their next match of IPL 2022 against Chennai Super Kings on May 1 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
