IPL 2022: I Have A Good Feeling About What's To Come - Virat Kohli After Being Retained By RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained their talismanic batsman, Virat Kohli, ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Kohli was retained as the first player, thereby earning the INR 15 crore contract, two crores less than what he was earning previously.
Along with him, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj were kept by the franchise. Surprisingly, Yuzvendra Chahal wasn’t retained, which is likely to do with his contract negotiations. Meanwhile, upon being retained by RCB, Kohli was elated and hoped that the best is yet to come.

“When I was contacted, I didn’t have any second thoughts at all. I believe the best is yet to come, I have a good feeling about what’s to come from the next season onwards. Committed as an RCBian. I could not be more thankful. I’ll be there with my heart and soul for RCB as always,” he said.
Kohli was the skipper of the Bangalore franchise until last year. He decided to relinquish the role, just a few days after announcing that he will be stepping down as the captain of the Indian team in the T20I format.
Virat Kohli is an icon in terms of RCB – Mike Hesson
RCB director of cricket operations, Mike Hesson, was a happy man and termed Kohli as a ‘key player’ ahead of the next season. The 32-year-old has been one of the best performers with the bat for the franchise over the years.

“Obviously, he is the rock at the top of the order. High volume of runs, plays all bowlers well, and scores all around the wicket. He knows Chinnaswamy well and we are really happy to be back at Chinnaswamy this season. Kohli is an icon in terms of RCB and a key player for us. Even though he is not captain, he will still be a leader within the group,” Hesson said.
Kohli’s favourite batting partner and close friend, AB de Villiers, retired from all forms of cricket and will not be part of the IPL anymore.
