I Looked At The IPL As A Win-Win, To Be Honest- Eoin Morgan On Going Unsold In IPL 2022 Auction

England white-captain Eoin Morgan opened up on going unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) auction despite leading the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the final of the IPL 2021 edition back in UAE. He was made captain of the side ahead of the second half of the IPL season after Dinesh Karthik quit the leadership.
KKR, who were in the bottom half of the IPL 2021 points table, then took on a different approach and managed to make it to their third final after seven years. However, Morgan was neither retained nor bought back by the franchise and for the first time in almost six months, Morgan opened up on his noninvolvement in the cash-rich league.

I’ve Had A Lovely Period At Home: Good Family Time: Eoin Morgan Okay With Not Being Picked In The IPL 2022 Auction
Many expected KKR to retain Eoin Morgan given that they played in the finals thanks to his leadership, but his batting form was nothing to write about during the entire IPL 2021 and this was probably the one reason why none of the franchises made a bid for the England captain.
He made only 133 runs in 17 games at 11.08 and with a strike rate of 95.68. This was his worst ever performance in an IPL season. However, Morgan remains unfazed over going unsold at the auction calling it a rather “win-win” situation.

He told ESPNCricinfo: “[I looked at the IPL] as a win-win, to be honest. Being there at the biggest tournament in the world is an experience that I’ve used to my advantage over the years and I’ve had some great memories and experiences along the way. But looking to the rest of the year for us, once I start playing again, it doesn’t stop until after the World Cup. I’ve had a lovely period at home: good family time.”
Morgan has been on a break from cricket since the semifinal loss in the 2021 T20 World Cup. He played a couple of games in the Abu Dhabi T10 league and appeared in two games in the five-match T20I series in West Indies before being ruled out with a quad injury.
