Rajasthan Royals pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile was ruled out from the remainder of IPL 2022 due to a side strain that he picked up during the Royals’ opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He bowled 3 overs for 48 runs in that game and could not complete his full quota of overs. Subsequently, he was dropped from the next two games that Rajasthan played.
The RR head physio John Gloster in a video posted on the official Twitter Handle of the Royals confirmed that Coulter-Nile is set to miss the remainder of the tournament as he will be sent back home for rehab. The Royals picked him up for his base price of 2 crores.
“Unfortunately, I have the hard task of wishing him farewell. It’s always hard to lose someone, particularly when it’s through injury. And you know we were really looking forward to spending a lot of time with you [Coulter-Nile] throughout this tournament. Unfortunately, that’s not going to be. But you are a big part of us. Anything you need from us, we are always here. We look forward to having you back with us, whenever that might be” Royals’ head physio John Gloster said in a video posted by the franchise on Twitter.

Rajasthan Royals was his fourth IPL team after the Australian pacer had featured previously for Delhi Capitals (2014-16), KKR (2017), RCB (2018-19) and Mumbai Indians (2020-21).
Coulter-Nile previously had to leave the tournament midway as well due to an injury when he played for Delhi Capitals back in 2015. NCN was a part of the Royals’ bowling attack that had the likes of Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and the two Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal.
With more than half of the season still left, Rajasthan Royals need to sign up for the injured Australian pacer. In this article, we take a look at three players who can replace Nathan Coulter-Nile.

David Wiese
The former South African cricketer David Wiese can be one of the replacements for the injured NCN. He recently played in the T20 World Cup for Namibia and came up with a few crucial contributions. Wiese has previously played in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2015 and 2016. So far in the IPL, Wiese has played 15 matches and picked up 16 wickets with the ball. He also has 90 runs to his name with the bat and a best of 47.
Moises Henriques
Henriques is another good all-round option available to Rajasthan Royals. The Australian all-rounder has played for several teams in the IPL and the latest of them for the Punjab Kings. He is a handy option with the ball and can tonk a few as well with the ball. Apart from Punjab Kings, Henriques has also played for KKR, SRH, and RCB.
