Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has predicted the most expensive Indian bowler at the IPL 20222 mega auctions. The auctions will be held on February 12-13 and Chopra expects the particular bowler to break the back of the opposition batting line-up.

Aakash Chopra in his latest Youtube video named the Indian bowlers to watch out for at the mega auction. He did not mention Shardul in his list of the top-five most expensive Indian bowlers, which included Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Rahul Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal with Deepak Chahar topping the list. He feels Deepak Chahar will be the most expensive Indian bowler at the auction.

“Firstly, he takes wickets with the new ball. There isn’t any Indian of this kind. You can think of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi…I didn’t even go with Harshal Patel, despite him picking 32 wickets last season to win the Purple Cap. But I feel probably he won’t cost that much,” he said on his YouTube channel.

The former Indian batsman believes that every franchise will try to hunt down Deepak Chahar given his expertise with the ball inside the powerplay and at the death.

“Deepak is you bank in the first three overs. He can come and give you early wickets in the powerplay. There is nothing better than that. He can break the back of the opponent. In death overs, he is alright, not great. But that can work. I feel CSK will try to get him back once again. Ahmedabad and Lucknow will also try. Every franchise will try to get him in their team. And he has started batting as well,” he said.

Chennai Super Kings will head into the mega auction with 48 crores of the remaining purse after releasing a lot of players including Deepak Chahar during the retention window. The franchise retained Ravindra Jadeja (16 Crores, MS Dhoni (12 Crores), Moeen Ali (8 Crores) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (6 Crores).
