IPL 2022: Aakash Chopra Reckons Adam Milne Can Be The Ideal Replacement For Deepak Chahar In Chennai Super Kings

In the absence of Deepak Chahar, Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener and cricket analyst, thinks Adam Milne might just be a good choice for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
In the IPL 2022 bidding, CSK spent INR 14 crore to acquire Chahar, who may have been their finest pacer in recent times. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury during the T20I series against the West Indies and therefore will miss a substantial portion of the IPL 2022.
While this is a problem that the franchise needs to solve, Aakash Chopra believes Milne is a viable successor for Chahar. Chopra reckons the Kiwi will be able to get more out of the Mumbai grounds, which have typically favoured quick bowling.
“He has previously played for MI and will provide pace and bounce to the team. So I believe you should adjust the squad and play international quicks.”
Aakash Chopra’s appraisal of CSK’s Adam Milne is supported by Jaffer:
Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opener and cricket specialist, concurred with Chopra’s appraisal of Adam Milne’s inclusion. He still, however, consider that someone like Chris Jordan can not be Milne’s new-ball partner.
“Milne, too, I imagine, will be a starter. The question is who will be his companion. Jordan does not swing the ball and bowls mainly in the sixth over of the powerplay, followed by the middle and final overs.”
Maheesh Theekshana, who has bowled in the powerplay for Sri Lanka, could be assigned the task of taking the new ball with Milne, according to Jaffer. Rajvardan Hangargekar, an Indian U19 standout, was also mentioned by the Mumbai veteran as somebody who can give the Super Kings an extra speed boost.
CSK will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign on March 26 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament’s opening match.
