In the Indian T20 team, Sanjay Manjrekar believes Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh is a better choice than senior bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Arshdeep, 23, has been unfortunate not to have served his team yet, as per the former Indian batter.

Arshdeep was crucial in Punjab’s 12-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2022 encounter in Pune on Wednesday.

Even though he did not take any wickets, he only gave up 29 runs in his four overs. He also bowled a critical 18th over with the match on the line, conceding only five runs despite Suryakumar Yadav being on strike.

On ESPNcricinfo, Sanjay Manjrekar stated that the time has come for India to give him an opportunity in the Indian T20 setup ahead of Bhuvneshwar. He expressed his opinion as follows:

“India always returns to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He’s been a fantastic bowler. However, nowadays, Arshdeep is a far better bowler to have in the T20 team than Bhuvneshwar. He is unquestionably in the top five (among Indian bowlers). “I’m sure he’s thinking about what else he needs to accomplish (to get into the Indian side).”

“Mayank Agarwal’s captaincy was outstanding”: Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar applauded Mayank Agarwal’s captaincy for not giving up on Rahul Chahar despite the leg-spinner being carted for 29 runs in his first over. The 56-year-old shared his thoughts on the PBKS skipper, saying:

“Mayank’s captaincy is outstanding. Rahul Chahar did not become disillusioned after attempting so many. Despite the threat of Pollard and Surya, he bowled Rahul Chahar for a last over. Then, for the 20th over, he kept the potentially most vulnerable bowler (Smith).”

On April 16, the Mumbai Indians will face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
