IPL 2022: Ashish Sir Is Like A Blessing For Me, He Is Like A Fatherly Figure – Yash Dayal On GT Head Coach Ashish Nehra

Gujarat Titans (GT) left-arm pacer Yash Dayal, while talking about Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra, said that the former India pacer is like a blessing to him and he also labelled Nehra as a “fatherly figure”.

Dayal picked 11 wickets in 9 games for Gujarat Titans (GT) in their title-winning campaign. Notably, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) won the Indian Premier League 2022 championship in their debut season by defeating Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Speaking on India News, Dayal stated that Nehra’s talks had a big impact on him. He also revealed that Nehra had advised him to just do the things he have been doing in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Dayal said:

“I would only like to say that Ashish Sir is like a blessing for me, he is like a fatherly figure. Ashish Sir’s talks had so much effect on me, when other people used to see me and him talk, they used to say that Ashish Sir sees himself in me, when he was young.

“He didn’t use to put much pressure mentally. He used to say that whatever I have done earlier in the Syed Mushtaq Ali, I have to do the same thing here, just that the exposure is a little more here.”

The left-arm pacer added that Nehra had told him to enjoy and express himself at the grand stage of the Indian Premier League. He stated:

“He said that you have done everything for such things only, so just go and express yourself, that you will not get a better platform than this and it is very important to enjoy this thing.”

Dayal also revealed that Nehra used to give special attention to him in the nets.

He said: “The only thing he says is that once you have picked up the ball, you shouldn’t look back. Apart from the team practice, he used to come specially to get me to bowl in the nets separately. I have not heard in any franchise a coach giving so much time to a player especially.”
