IPL 2022 Auction: 3 Openers Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) Can Target

Lucknow Supergiants is one of the two new teams that have been drafted into the IPL. The IPL 2022 will be a 10-team event with as many as 74 matches to be played in the season. Lucknow picked KL Rahul (INR 17 crore), Marcus Stoinis (INR 9.2 crore), Ravi Bishnoi (INR 4 crore) in the draft. In the upcoming IPL auction, they would look to build on the players to form a competitive squad. Rahul will also lead the squad.

Lucknow will head into ther IPL 2022 mega auction with a remaining purse of 59 crores with 22 spots to fill. Out of the 22, seven spots are for overseas players. This auction is probably the last of the mega auctions as per reports and thus all the teams will be keen to buy the best of players. Jonny Bairstow

Bairstow was a heavy run-scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the seasons that he played for the franchise. In 28 matches for the website, he scored 1038 runs for the side with one hundred and seven fifties. Bairstow is an experienced cricketer across formats for England. He is one of the names for whom the franchsies are expected to score big.

He can bat in different ways for his team and can be an ideal foil to Lucknow’s skipper KL Rahul. He can also keep for the side if he is drafted in leaving KL Rahul to focus on his batting and captaincy.

Evin Lewis

The big-hitting West Indian opener can be another good option as an opener for the franchise. Lewis has played for Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and has shown glimpses of what he is capable of. He can turn out to be a budget buy for the franchise.

He is very much an unknown commodity still in the IPL since he has played very few games. If given consistent chances, Lewis can end up among the top run-getters in the season.

Aiden Markram

Markram is another good option as an opener for Lucknow in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He was in good form across the Test and the ODI series against India recently. Markram can also anchor the innings for the new franchise. Markram has previously played with KL Rahul at Punajb Kings and formed a good combination of batting together.
