Jos Buttler is currently one of the best batsmen in white-ball cricket. He showed his class while playing for England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Buttler played sensational knocks throughout the tournament and carried the team to the semi-finals. He was the only player who scored a century in the tournament.

Jos Buttler finished as the fourth-run-getter, having managed to score 269 runs in 6 matches. Among all the batsmen, he scored runs with the highest average and strike rate of 89.67 and 151.12.

Jos Buttler currently plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He had a decent outing in the first leg of IPL 2021. In 7 matches, he managed to score 254 runs at an average of 36.28 and a strike rate of 153.01.

Buttler made himself unavailable for the second leg due to the impending birth of his child. As of now, it isn’t clear whether Rajasthan Royals will retain him for next year or not. In this article, we take a look at three teams that can target Jos Buttler if he gets back into the auction pool.

IPL 2022 Auction: 3 Teams Which Can Target Jos Buttler

  1. Punjab Kings

If reports are to be believed, KL Rahul is set to part ways with Punjab Kings ahead of a new season. He has captained the side for the last three years. He was Punjab’s highest run-scorer for three consecutive seasons. KL Rahul’s departure could be a massive blow for Punjab Kings. It would be really difficult for them to have an ideal replacement.

Jos Buttler, though, is someone who could fill the shoes of KL Rahul in the team. One could see Punjab Kings splurging a huge amount of money for Buttler if he gets back into the auction pool.

Adding Jos Buttler could strengthen Punjab’s batting unit. He has been in blistering form with the bat and can prove to be a great asset for Punjab. Punjab Kings finished at the sixth position last year with 6 wins in 14 matches.

  1. Chennai Super Kings

Faf du Plessis was CSK’s highest run-getter in IPL 2021. He scored runs consistently and took the team to the final of the tournament. Du Plessis played yet another sensational knock in the final to help the team lift their fourth IPL title.

However, the South African cricketer is unlikely to be retained by the franchise for the next year. As per reports, either one between Moeen Ali and Sam Curran will get the nod.

Therefore, the franchise would be looking for a new opener who could partner Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order. It could be a great deal if CSK managed to bring Jos Buttler into the team. The fans could see CSK targeting Buttler if he gets into the auction pool.

  1. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad endured their worst season in IPL 2021. They finished at the bottom of the points table, having managed to win only 3 matches out of 14. One of the biggest reasons behind their failure was David Warner’s poor form with the bat.

The southpaw failed to give the team good starts at the top of the order, something which he had been doing for SRH since he made his debut.

If reports are to be believed, David Warner is unlikely to be retained for next year. Also, Jonny Bairstow will be released from the team as well. SRH could come up with a completely different opening pair next year. Sunrisers Hyderabad would be targeting two new players as openers in the mega auctions and Jos Buttler could be one of them.
