The IPL is gearing up for a highly anticipated Mega-Auctions, scheduled to be held in the month of February. If reports are to be believed, the auctions are likely to be held on 12th and 13th February 2022. The cash-rich event will be a ten-team affair from this year as two new teams have been added into the fray.

The eight existing franchises are set for a major overhaul as they had the option to retain a maximum of four players. The rest of the players will find themselves at the mega-auctions. In a bid to make it a level-playing field, the two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, were allowed to acquire the services of three players from the pool.

So far 33 players have either been retained or acquired by the 10 franchises. The rest of the players are likely to go under the hammer on 12th and 13th February.

A lot of world-class talents will be up for grabs. And, with the salary purse also increased by 5 crores from last year, the franchises could be seen spending a hefty sum of money on their favourite players.

A lot of Indian players will be under the spotlight and it will be interesting to see how well do they fare at the auctions. In this article, let’s take a look at the 5 Indian players who can cross the INR 20 Crore Slab.

IPL 2022 Auction: 5 Indian Players Who Can Cross The INR 20 Crores Slab

  1. Ishan Kishan

Mumbai Indians took the hard call of retaining Suryakumar Yadav ahead of Ishan Kishan. The latter wasn’t even picked by the two new franchises either.

The southpaw will go under the hammer at the auctions and one could see a fierce bidding war between several franchises. His ability to change the course of the game in a matter of a few overs makes him an attractive proposition in T20 cricket.

There is, perhaps, no franchise who doesn’t want to have a player like Ishan Kishan in their set-up. He is certainly one of the contenders who can cross the INR 20 crore slab.

  1. Shardul Thakur

Chennai Super Kings would be disappointed after making the hard call of releasing Shardul Thakur from the team. He has been a valuable asset for the team over the years and CSK would have loved to persist with him.

There is no denying that Shardul Thakur’s stocks have seen a sharp rise in the last couple of years. He has become an integral part of the Indian Cricket Team across formats and is likely to be in huge demand at the mega-auctions.

His ability to contribute in all facets of the game makes him a prized commodity in T20 cricket. He could be someone who could break the 20cr slab at the auctions.

  1. Harshal Patel

Perhaps, no one had thought that Harshal Patel would become RCB’s standout bowler in the 2021 edition of the tournament. In just one season, he has grabbed everyone’s attention.

His ability to mix up his pace helped him a lot last year as he picked a record of 32 wickets in a single edition of the tournament. Every time the team was in trouble, Harshal Patel would break the partnership, mostly with his slower balls.

Surprisingly, RCB didn’t retain Harshal Patel for the next edition of the tournament, meaning that the Indian pacers will be at the auction pool. He is likely to be in huge demand and might break a 20 crore slab as well.

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal rose to fame after showcasing his talent while playing for RCB. His stellar performances for the franchise helped him find a place in the Indian Cricket Team. Yuzvendra Chahal is currently the highest wicket-taker for RCB and is one of the best players to have played for the franchise.

Unfortunately, we might not see him playing for the franchise from next year. A lot of teams will be eying on the Indian leg-spinner and one can see a bidding war taking place at the auctions.

  1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer is firm in his stance that he wants to lead an IPL franchise this year. Earlier, reports emerged that he might lead the Ahmedabad franchise ahead of the 15th edition of the tournament. However, Hardik Pandya was given preference ahead of him.

Shreyas Iyer will be going under the hammer at this year’s auction and teams like CSK, PBKS, KKR, etc might be interested in his services. His name at the auctions could start a bidding war and one shouldn’t get surprised if he crosses the 20 crore slab.
