IPl 2022 Auction: 5 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Can Target. IPL 2022 mega auctions will revamp the structure of all the franchise teams for the next edition of the Indian Premier League.
As the IPL Governing Council has allowed each franchise to retain a maximum of four players, most of the franchises utilised the provision to keep their premium players for a longer duration.
A total of 27 players were retained in the retention list by the eight existing teams. Ace players like Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson have been retained by their respective teams ahead of the mega auction in 2022.
Sunrisers Hyderabad retained New Zealand skipper Williamson as their first choice player along with Indian youngsters Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, who were picked in the uncapped category of the retention policy.
The Orange Army bid adieu to their greatest opener David Warner, under his leadership the team won the 2016 title after defeating RCB in the final.
Things didn’t seem to go well between the Australian player and his franchise in the final games of the league stage of IPL 2021 as Warner was dropped from the team and was seen cheering for them from the stands.
Warner’s release by the Orange Army was inevitable with how things folded up in the later part of IPL 2021. Even players like Rashid Khan, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder and Mohammed Nabi were released by SRH.
The team will not only be restructuring its team with core players but also look for a new head coach after Trevor Bayliss resigned from the role earlier this month.
Let us look at the five potential players Sunrisers Hyderabad might bid for in the IPL 2022 auction.
IPl 2022 Auction: 5 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Can Target
5) T Natarajan
The Tamil Nadu bowler is a rare left-arm pacer to find who can also bowl with variations. Natarajan played just a couple of matches for SRH before he was ruled out in April due to a knee injury.
In the second leg of IPL 2021 in UAE, he contracted COVID-19 just ahead of SRH’s game against Delhi Capitals. Natarajan has claimed 20 wickets from 24 matches at an economy rate of 8.24.
4) Jason Roy
Roy replaced David Warner in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team against Rajasthan Royals and slammed a half-century in his first game for the Orange Army.
Roy smashed 60 off 42 balls with the help of eight boundaries and a six as SRH won their second game of the tournament.
He ended the season with 150 runs from five innings at the strike rate of 123.96 to take his IPL tally to 329 runs. He has previously played with Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) and Gujarat Lions.

3) Rahul Chahar
The leg-spinner was one of the reasons for the Mumbai Indians’ success in lifting consecutive IPL titles in 2019 & 2020.
Chahar has snapped 43 IPL wickets from as many matches since making his debut for Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017.
Chahar can fill the gap vacated by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad.
2) Shimron Hetmyer
West Indies’ destructive batsman Hetmyer scored 242 runs from 14 games and helped the team finish some close games.
DC needed 37 runs to win against CSK with just four wickets left and it was Hetmyer who came to their rescue as the southpaw smashed 28 runs off 12 balls to finish the game in the final over.
Hetmyer has admitted that he enjoys the role of a finisher and SRH can look to him to fit in their lower middle-order.
1) Dinesh Karthik
Karthik has amassed 4046 runs from 192 innings at the strike rate of 129.72 and has smashed 19 half-centuries in his 14 years of playing IPL.
Karthik has also been involved in 147 dismissals (115 catches and 32 stumpings) behind the stumps, the second-most by any keeper after MS Dhoni’s 161.
Since the emergence of IPL, Karthik has switched his alliance with six IPL teams and his longest stretch was at KKR.
Karthik can keep the gloves for SRH and also stabilise their middle-order while playing some handy cameos with the bat.
