One of the most destructive openers in world cricket right now, Ishan Kishan is likely to find himself at the mega auctions for the next edition of the tournament. Along with Ishan Kishan, Mumbai Indians, unfortunately, had to release Rahul Chahar as well. He was a premier spinner for the franchise for a number of years. Rahul Chahar was outstanding with the ball in the India leg of the IPL 2021.

He was, perhaps, the only bright spot during the first half of the tournament. Impressive performances in IPL 2021 also helped him get selected in India’s squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Having said that, Chahar is unlikely to play for Mumbai Indians this year but a lot of other franchises would be interested in buying his services. Given the impact he has had, over the years in IPL, Rahul Chahal should get a million-dollar contract.

It was surprising to see Kolkata Knight Riders not retaining Shubman Gill for the next edition of the tournament. Gill was touted to be the future captain of the franchise. However, as it turned out, he might not play for them from the next edition. The likes of Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy were opted ahead of Gill, meaning that the latter is likely to find himself at the mega auctions.

There is no doubt about Gill’s ability to perform well in the tournament. He has scored more than 400 runs in the last two consecutive editions. Chances are high that KKR might bid him heavily to buy him back at the auctions. The franchise though is likely to engage in a bidding war with several other franchises. The 22-year old too is likely to get a million-dollar contract at the auctions.

Royal Challengers Bangalore retained only three players for the next edition of the tournament, namely Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. The franchise didn’t retain opener Devdutt Padikkal, which took many by surprise.

Padikkal had a phenomenal debut season for RCB in IPL 2020. In 15 matches, he scored 473 runs at an average of 31.53. The following season, he managed to score 411 runs in 14 matches at 31.61.

Despite having two successful seasons with the bat, RCB didn’t put enough faith in him and decided to release the youngster for the next edition. The southpaw’s consistency with the bat will tempt a lot of franchises to show interest in him at the auctions. He too is one of the contenders to fetch a million-dollar contract at the auctions.
