The IPL 2022 fever has already started with lots of entertainment, and action waiting to get on as the inclusion of two new teams will make it a blockbuster year. The number of matches has been increased and this will be the second time in history to have a 10 team – IPL after the first one came way back in 2011.
The franchises have been scratching their heads as they have just a few more days to name their retentions and they will have to make it very wiser as well. IPL 2022 Auction Date, Retention Rules, Retained Players List:
IPL 2022 Auction Date:
The IPL 2022 mega auction is likely to take place in the first week of January with the dates not revealed yet. The auction timing will be 3:30 PM IST and the venue is yet to be confirmed. The IPL 2022 is also likely to get underway on April 2 with 74 matches this time around after the inclusion of two new teams.
IPL 2022 Retention Rules:
The IPL 2022 retention rules will be slightly different from the previous mega auction in 2018 as there will be no RTM cards this time. The purse for each team will be 90 crores and a maximum of three Indians can be retained by the eight franchises before the deadline of November 30.
The two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad can retain three players that will go into the auction pool before the end of December and their criteria will be a maximum of two Indian players and one overseas.
