IPL auctioneer Hugh Edmeades has given an update on his health after everyone witnessed a massive shock during the IPL 2022 auction.
During the Day 1 of the two-day mega auction event, Hugh Edmeades, who has been conducting IPL auctions since 2019, suddenly collapsed on the floor.
He was attained by the medical staff immediately after he fell down from the podium while he was engaged in Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga‘s bidding.

Edmeades, 62, through a video message, confirmed that he is doing well but won’t be able to further conduct the grand event as auctioneer.
“I am very sorry that I can’t be with you in person today. As you can see I am absolutely fine but I just felt that I wasn’t able to give 100% performance which is unfair to the BCCI, IPL, the bidders and most importantly unfair to the players.
“I just want to thank all those people around the world who sent me good wishes,” Edmeades said in a video posted on IPL’s official Twitter handle.

Charu Sharma, the director of Pro Kabbadi League, replaces Edmeades as the auctioneer for the remaining part of Day 1. Charu also continued the proceedings on the second day as well.
Edmeades thanked Charu Sharma for taking over the responsibility at the very right moment and wished him the best for the event.
“Also very grateful to Charu (Sharma) for stepping in at such short notice and taking over the baton. The show must go on and it was amazing that he should be on hand and continue to make lots of money for fantastic players,” Edmeades asserted.
Charu Sharma revealed that IPL chairman Brijesh Patel had requested him to rush towards the event venue in Bengaluru.
