Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra said that South Africa batter Faf du Plessis will be picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022 auction.
Du Plessis was an integral part of CSK since he joined them in 2012 and has won two IPL titles with the ‘Yellow Brigade’. The South African batter amassed 2932 runs from 93 innings at the strike rate of 132.
With 633 runs from 16 games in IPL 2021, Du Plessis was the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2021 and formed a solid opening partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad for CSK.

Du Plessis fired 86 from 59 balls, striking seven fours and three sixes, as CSK posted 192 in the final against KKR. MS Dhoni and his men won the match by 27 runs to clinch their fourth IPL title.
I feel Faf du Plessis will go back to Chennai Super Kings: Aakash Chopra

Chopra feels the former South Africa captain will return to CSK in the IPL 2022 auction but won’t stay with the franchise for a very long time.
“I feel Faf du Plessis will go back to Chennai Super Kings. Chennai is not bothered about the player’s age. He formed a very good combination with Ruturaj Gaikwad, they will stick to that,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“Knowing that he is going to go there, he is not young, will not be there with them for a long time, is now away from international cricket, it feels you are getting a bonus every year, things will go pear-shaped soon – you don’t want to invest much,” he added.
Don’t think RCB will buy Aaron Finch: Aakash Chopra
Australia’s limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch, who last played in IPL 2020 for RCB, went unsold in IPL 2021 auction. The power-hitting opener has put his name in this year’s mega auction with the base price of INR 1.5 crore.
Chopra feels that Finch won’t get a massive deal in the auction and predicted that Kolkata Knight Riders might target the Australian skipper.
“Aaron Finch might get a team but I don’t think Aaron Finch will be sold expensive, two-and-a-half to three crores, that’s the kind of money I am thinking for him. It is different if some team buys him as a captain,” Chopra said.

“I don’t think RCB will buy him and Punjab should also not buy him. So KKR is the only one left. KKR might buy him, they might make him open also and even make him their captain. That is a possibility but I don’t see him going too expensive,” he added.
The IPL 2022 auction will be conducted on February 12 and 13 in the city of Bengaluru.
