IPL 2022 Auction: List Of All Players Who Remained Unsold In The Mega Auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, which was held at the Hotel ITC Gardenia, in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13 is finally over.

The 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 franchises – Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals – were engaged in an intense bidding war in the two-day event to acquire the services of their favourite players.

In total ₹5,51,70,00,000 has been spent at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction and amongst 600 players that went under the hammer, only 204 were sold, including 67 overseas players.

The most expensive player in this year’s auction was wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, who was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 15.25 crore. The second and third most expensive players at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction were Deepak Chahar, who was bought for INR 14 crore by Chennai Super Kings and Shreyas Iyer, who was bought for INR 12.25 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The most expensive overseas player in this year’s auction was explosive batsman Liam Livingstone as Punjab Kings shelled out INR 11.5 crore to include the all-rounder in their squad.

However, the auction was not very kind to some of the veteran cricketers like Imran Tahir, Suresh Raina, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Aaron Finch and Eoin Morgan as they remained unsold despite having a lot of experience in their bag.

IPL veteran Suresh Raina has played 205 Indian Premier League games and has scored 5528 runs at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.76. He brings a plethora of experience with him still he remained unsold in the auction.

12 players, who had set INR 2 crore as their base price went unsold while 10 players who were in INR 1.5 crore bracket went unsold. Also, 12 players, who placed themselves in the INR 1 crore bracket remained unsold.
