Several experienced players like Suresh Raina, Umesh Yadav and Steve Smith remained unsold on day one of the two-day Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, which is being held at the Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 player auction list was announced on February 1 and in total 590 cricketers were shortlisted from the original list of 1214 players to go under the auction hammer on February 12 and 13. However, some changes were made on the eve of the mega auction and the 10 new players were added to the list.

The 15th IPL auction, which is the fifth mega auction, was a big one for several young Indian cricketers like Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer.

Notably, Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player on day 1 as he was sold for INR 15.25 crore to Mumbai Indians (MI). Shreyas Iyer was the third most expensive player on day 1 as he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 12.25 crores. The second most expensive player on the day was bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar, who was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 14 crore.

Overall, 74 players were sold on day 1, including 20 overseas and franchises spent in total ₹3,88,10,00,000 to acquire the services of players.

List Of All Players Who Remained Unsold On Day 1 Of IPL 2022 Mega Auction

On day 1 of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction, a total of 23 players remained unsold, the shocking names that went unsold were; Suresh Raina, Shakib Al Hasan, Steve Smith, David Miller, Umesh Yadav and Amit Mishra. However, the players still have a chance to find a buyer tomorrow if teams submit their name for accelerated round of the auction which will take place in the final stage.

All the franchises have many slots left to fill and day 2 of the mega auction will once again be an intense one. Notably, the maximum number of players allowed in a squad is 25 and the minimum number of players allowed in a squad is 18. Also, a maximum of 8 overseas are allowed in a squad in the marquee cash-rich league.
