On Thursday, the Delhi Capitals faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 50 of the ongoing IPL 2022 season. SRH captain Kane Williamson invited the Delhi Capitals to play first at Brabourne, and the Rishabh Pant-led side produced a score of 207 for the loss of three wickets, building on David Warner’s unbeaten 58-ball 92.

Then, another former SRH player, Khaleel Ahmed, took three wickets for 30 runs to assist his team to defend the score and win their sixth match of the season. Warner was not retained by SRH before the mega auctions, so he had a statement to make over his previous club on Thursday. The left-handed Australian finished unbeaten and with his fourth fifty of the campaign.

David Warner now has 89 fifties to his name:

Warner also beat former Royal Challengers Bangalore ace and T20 icon Chris Gayle’s milestone of most fifties by any batsman in the T20 tournament format with his fourth fifty-plus score of the campaign and overall 52nd in the world’s wealthiest franchise cricket league.

In the shortest edition of the game, he now has 89 fifties to his name, one more than Chris Gayle’s 88. With 77 half-centuries, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is third overall, followed by Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch (70) and Indian leader Rohit Sharma (69).

The Australian opener has 5762 runs in 158 IPL games, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer in the league’s history. He’s the league’s leading run-scorer.

Warner, who has signed for Rs 6.25 crore in the mega auctions this year, is returned to his peak after skipping the first two games owing to international commitments with Australia.
