IPL 2022: DC Head Coach Ricky Ponting To Isolate For 5 Days After Family Member Tests Covid-19 Positive

Covid 19 has hit another member of the Delhi Capitals team. According to a statement released by Delhi Capitals, a family member of head coach Ricky Ponting has tested positive for Covid 19.

Ricky Ponting will now undergo isolation for 5 days as per the protocol and therefore would miss the game against Rajasthan Royals on Friday.

Mitchell Marsh, Tim Seifert Tested Positive In The Last Few Days

Mitchell Marsh after recovering from an injury played the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore but was subsequently ruled out of DC’s next game as he was found to be Covid positive.

Later, Tim Seifert too was found to be Covid positive in the subsequent tests that were conducted as per the protocol.

Now just ahead of the game against Rajasthan Royals, Ricky Ponting’s family member has tested positive.

Earlier, DC did not move out of Mumbai and their games were shifted to Brabourne Stadium and Wankhede Stadium due to Covid cases in their camp.

DC, despite tensions surrounding Covid 19 in their camp won their last game against Punjab Kings.

“A family member of Delhi Capitals Head Coach Ricky Ponting has tested positive for COVID-19. The family has now been moved into an isolation facility and is being well taken care of.

Ponting himself has tested negative twice subsequently. However, in the best interest of the team, the management and medical team has decided that he will remain in isolation for five days, as he was a close contact.

He will, therefore, not be present at the ground for tonight’s game against Rajasthan Royals. The franchise requests for Ponting and his family’s privacy to be respected in the current scenario.

The condition of all individuals in the bubble who have tested positive so far is being closely monitored. The team looks forward to everyone’s speedy recovery”, said a statement by the franchise.

Delhi have won 3 games out of the 6 they have played this season till now.
