IPL 2022 Final: Rashid Khan Labels Winning IPL Title With Gujarat Titans (GT) As Biggest Achievement Of His Career

Star Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has said that winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) championship with Gujarat Titans (GT) is the biggest achievement of his career.

On Sunday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets to win the IPL 2022 title in their debut season.

Leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who was picked by GT in the drafts ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction, played a crucial role in the team’s success in the tournament.

Rashid bagged 19 wickets in 16 games, including a four-wicket haul and with the bat, he finished off the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the league stage and played a fantastic knock against Chennai Super Kings to help GT secure a win.

In the final, he picked the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal and gave away just 18 runs in his 4-over quota.

After the summit clash, Rashid said that winning the IPL championship requires a lot of hard work and energy and the IPL 2022 title victory is his biggest achievement in cricket.

The star leg-spinner also showered praise on young opening batsman Shubman Gill, who scored 45 runs in the final and finished off the game by smashing a six.

“We adjusted quickly to the wicket, everyone took the responsibility. The middle overs were very important. So proud to be here with him (Shubman Gill),” Rashid told Star Sports.

“(He is) a very hard working guy…I thought he was the one guy against whom I would have a bit trouble but he was on my side. It’s the biggest achievement of your career – being part of the IPL-winning team. Winning here needs lots of hard work, energy. It’s the biggest achievement of my career,” he said.

Notably, Gill is the 5th highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League 2022 with 483 runs in his bag in 16 games at an average of 34.50 and a strike rate of 132.32, including 4 half-centuries.
