Royal Challengers Bangalore notched up some crucial buys at the IPL 2022 mega auction. Mike Hesson, RCB’s Director Of Cricket Operations said that they have covered all the bases in the mega auction and got together a competitive squad. Faf du Plessis, Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranfa and Dinesh Karthik were their most crucial buys at the auction.
Overall, they now have a squad of 22 players with 8 overseas players ahead of IPL 2022. With enough options, it will be interesting to see how the franchise makes use of these overseas players and whether they will be giving them consistent opportunities. Meanwhile, in this article, we will predict the four overseas players whom Royal Challengers Bangalore might pick in their playing XI.
IPL 2022: First Choice 4 Overseas Players Of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) For The Tournament
Faf du Plessis
Du Plessis will open the batting with Virat Kohli. Reports further say that the franchise will announce him as the captain of the side for the upcoming season. Faf has retired from international cricket for South Africa which also confirms his availability throughout the season for RCB.
Du Plessis is also incredibly fit despite ageing 37 and can match the fitness standards in the tournament as well. Taking into account all these variables, Faf is the best bet as RCB captain and will surely play all 14 games.

Glenn Maxwell
Maxwell scored over 500 runs with the bat for the franchise in IPL 2021. In the absence of AB De Villiers, he becomes a key figure in the middle-order alongside Virat Kohli. He is an all-rounder for the side and can play his part with the ball as well. He is an excellent player to boost his credentials which makes him an automatic pick in the playing XI.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Hasaranga was roped in by RCB for 10.75 crores. He played just two games for Royal Challengers Bangalore last season. Given that he is a leg spinner, he can fill up for Yuzvendra Chahal with the ball for the side. He is an excellent fielder and can tonk the ball in the 20 over format. The franchise should trust him to perform for the side and should give him a consistent run.
Josh Hazlewood
Hazlewood cost RCB 7.75 crores but he is a good addition to the side. CSK could not win the bidding war for the Aussie pacer and thus RCB bagged him for a hefty price. In the process, they bolstered their pace attack with him and David Willey two good options in the pace attack. However, the franchise should back Hazlewood over the left-arm pacer due to his ability to consistently hit the deck hard and make it troublesome for the batsmen with his pace.
