IPL 2022: Former Pakistan Captain Rashid Latif Feels Rohit Sharma Is Going Through The Same Fate as Babar Azam

There is nothing much in common between Pakistan Super League and Indian Premier League other than the fact that both are franchise based leagues. PSL has 6 teams while the IPLhas just increased the number of teams to 10. But one thing in common this season in IPL and PSL according to former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has been the fate of two teams Mumbai Indians in IPL and Karachi Kings in PSL.

Mumbai Indians have lost 8 games on the trot in the ongoing season of the IPL, this is a first in the tournament. Earlier in the year, Karachi Kings led by Babar Azam had a similar horrid run in PSL where they lost 9 of their games out of the 10 they played.

Mumbai Indians Have Flopped Similar To Karachi Kings: Rashid Latif

MI has always been slow starters in IPL, they have on several occasions in the past have picked themselves up from a couple of losses but this year it has been been a complete downside for them as nothing has worked for the team.

“Mumbai Indians have flopped similar to the Karachi Kings. The most successful IPL franchise is currently at the bottom. It’s a very strange feeling. More than the captaincy, the formation of the team is what has hurt the franchise the most.

I think the owners’ interference has cost them dearly. They let go of the Pandya brothers, and released Quinton de Kock, and Trent Boult. Karachi lost 9 matches in total and MI too seem to be going down the same road. Rohit Sharma is suffering the same fate as Babar Azam did. In the last match, he got out to Pandya,” Latif said on the YouTube Show ‘Caught Behind’.

Despite good performances from the likes of Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav, MI has struggled as other senior players like Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and Rohit Sharma have failed to step up. Their bowling department has leaked runs and the team has not been able to identify the right bowling combination at all.
