IPL 2022: Harshal Patel Reveals Virat Kohli's Message After RCB Rebought Him For 10.75 Crores

Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap in IPL 2021 ending the season with 32 wickets. He was not in the original retentions from the Royal Challengers Bangalore but was picked up by the franchise at the mega auction for 10.27 crores. Since the last couple of years, Patel has become key to RCB’s success in the IPL. The franchise kicks off its campaign against Punjab Kings on March 27 at the DY Patin stadium.

The Indian pacer will be once again turning up for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. He revealed the message that he received from Virat Kohli after being picked by the franchise once again. In a chat with the franchise, Harshal revealed the text that Virat had sent him after RCB added him once again to their team.

“Virat Kohli messaged me after RCB picked me in the auction, he told, I deserve every bit for all hard work I have put in, it was so nice of him – money is always secondary but I am happy to create the value I created among everyone,” he said in a video shared by RCB.

Harshal Patel also kept a word on Faf du Plessis who will be leading the franchise in IPL 2022. The franchise roped him for 7 crores and announce him as the skipper on the day it launched its new jersey for the upcoming season.

Faf du Plessis Is A Team Player: Harshal Patel

“I really admired Faf du Plessis the kind of cricket that he plays, the way he handles himself, the way he carries himself. And he is your role model team player. And really looking forward to playing under him,” Harshal said about Du Plessis.

Faf also emphasised the importance of having Virat around him as he looks forward to leading a team in the IPL for the first time. 

“His (Kohli’s) achievement as a cricket player has been probably one of the greatest, so big respect for what he’s done not just with the bat in his hand but also in terms of captaincy, he’s revolutionized Indian cricket,” Du Plessis said.
