Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has said that the newly appointed RCB skipper Faf du Plessis has maximized his potential over a period of time, which is a good sign of a leader.
Dinesh Karthik and Faf du Plessis were bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction for INR 5.5 crore and INR 7 crore respectively.
Speaking in a video shared by RCB on YouTube, Karthik while talking about Faf du Plessis said:
“As a player over a period of time, Faf is somebody who has maximized his potential. It is always a good sign for a leader because they will have empathy, they will understand people and what cricketers are going through and I think he will have an abundance of that.”
“I have also played against him when he was a leader of South Africa. He was tactically very astute and that would definitely help and in IPL I think you need a tactically good captain and he is second to none.”
We have a lot of leaders in our group – Dinesh Karthik
The RCB wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik mentioned that the Royal Challengers Bangalore have a lot of leaders in the team like Glenn Maxwell, who is the captain of Melbourne Stars in BBL, and Harshal Patel, who has captained Haryana. He elaborated:
“Harshal Patel has been someone who has phenomenally grown over the last eight months, Siraj has been one of the most improved fast bowlers for India over the past couple of years.”
“I think we have a lot of leadership experience in our team, Maxwell has been leading the Melbourne stars for some time now. Harshal has led Haryana, so we have a lot of leaders in our group.”
