When Sachin Tendulkar watched Tilak Varma batting in Mumbai Indians’ tryouts before the commencement of the 2022 IPL season, he seemed delighted.

The Rohit Sharma-led club, which had been the most successful in the league’s history, finished bottom of the table after losing their first eight consecutive matches.

Former MI skipper and team mentor Sachin Tendulkar, who’d been involved in the camp for most of the first half of the stage of the game stage, said he was delighted with the pre-season training that they would have held.

“Tilak Varma is a very promising cricketer. I got to interact with him in the first half of the tournament. We worked on his batting., He is a very positive player with, a very clear and simple mindset. When I saw him play the trial games for MI, I was very impressed,” said Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar furthermore stated that Tilak is a capable off-spinner, even though MI enthusiasts saw little of that perspective of his game so far this season. Tilak bowled just two overs all season and ended up taking no wickets.

“He’s fit and quick between the wickets.” He sometimes racks some off-spin. I would recommend Tilak not to ignore his bowling. In the shorter formats, he can bowl one or two overs. Overall, he has impressed me. He’s a hard worker, and I hope he keeps it up. He has a bright future” Sachin Tendulkar Added.

The 19-year-old earned his IPL debut this year as MI looked for a replacement for the injured Suryakumar Yadav. Tilak finished the season as MI’s second-highest run-scorer after Ishan Kishan, with 397 runs in 14 innings and a strike rate of 131.02.
