The Delhi Capitals had retained only four players ahead of the IPL 2022 auction in captain Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Anrich Nortje, and Axar Patel. In the auction, DC splurged massively with Shardul Thakur being bought for INR 10.75 crs, David Warner for INR 6.25 crs, and Mitchell Marsh for INR 6.50 crs.
They also got bargain prices for Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahmed, and other players as well. One such player is Mandeep Singh, who was bought for INR 1.1 crs.

Mandeep shared that though he has not seen videos of any of Ponting’s speeches in DC team meetings, he has heard some great stuff about the former Australian captain. He was all praises of the former Australian captain.
“No, I haven’t seen the videos but have heard a lot of people say that there is no coach like him. He is someone who maintains a healthy team atmosphere. Be it victory or loss, he makes sure the vibe is already positive around the team. I have heard a lot of good things spoken about him from players,” he said.
Delhi Capitals have seemingly found their glory in the past two seasons, making it into the finals of IPL 2020 under the guidance of Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer and then making it into the playoffs, by topping the IPL 2021 points table under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant.
