IPL 2022: I Believe Mitchell Marsh Has Got The Game To Do Consistently Well In Test Cricket – DC's Assistant Coach Shane Watson

Delhi Capitals’ (DC) assistant coach Shane Watson showered praise on the Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and said that he has the skills to perform well consistently for Australia in the Test cricket.

Marsh delivered a sensational performance for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League 2022 game against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, as he bagged 2 wickets and smashed 89 while chasing the target to help Delhi Capitals keep their hopes alive for the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Watson said on ‘The Grade Cricketer’ podcast that the all-rounder Marsh is one of the best short-format batters in the world, if he gets going. He elaborated:

“It took Mitch a few games to get going here (in IPL 2022) after the COVID setback. It wasn’t ideal for him to be stuck away from the hotel, in a room for around 10 days. A couple of things went his way at the start (in the match against Rajasthan). Once he gets going, he is one of the best short-format batters in the world.

“I believe he’s got the game to do consistently well in Test cricket as well. He’s scored a few hundreds in Test cricket. He’s got incredible skills.”

Watson further added that Marsh has had a lot of ups and downs throughout his career but everyone loves to have him around as he adds a great value to the team. Watson was also delighted to see everything working well for Marsh in the last 18 months. He asserted:

“Mitch Marsh is a great guy. He’s had his ups and downs throughout his career. He’s been exposed playing for Australia at times. But everyone’s always enjoyed having him around. He adds a lot of value. It’s been great to see everything come together for him in the last 18 months, particularly in T20 cricket.”
