Australian opener David Warner is set to return to his first franchise in the IPL. He was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2022 mega auction, the franchise he first played for back in 2009.

Previously named Delhi Daredevils, Warner was bought in 2009 and he played for five years. In the duration, he became the first to score consecutive hundreds in T20s when he scored 135 and 123 against CSK and RCB in the now-defunct Champions League.

In 2014, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad and went on to become the captain in the very next year. Warner led SRH to their second title in 2016 where he carried the batting on his back and also captained brilliantly.

Although he had a major fall-out with the franchise in 2021, he will now return to the league with his first team, Delhi. The 34-year-old was the Player of the Tournament in the 2021 T20 World Cup where he scored 289 runs.

He will be hoping to continue his newfound form in the biggest cricketing league in the world. On being bought by DC, Warner was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to get started.

Hi, Delhi fans! I’m coming back to where it all started. I’m really excited how I could see you all very soon over in India. Looking forward to it,” Warner mentioned.
