An external panel has submitted a report to BCCI over the dispute regarding CVC captains acquiring the new Ahmedabad franchise for IPL 2022. CVC Capitals had won the BCCI’s bid to form the new Ahmedabad franchise for the next season. CVC Capitals bid an amount of Rs. 5625 crores to grab the right of the new Ahmedabad franchise.
However, a dispute arrived soon over CVC Capitals’s alleged investment in betting companies outside India. The RPSG group, which won the bidding for the other new franchise Lucknow, was given a letter of intent immediately. For CVC Capitals, BCCI sought an opinion by a three-member independent external panel, which is headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court Justice KS Radhakrishnan.

Independent Panel Gives Its Opinion To BCCI On CVC Capitals
Now, reports have arrived that the independent panel has given its option to BCCI over the dispute. On December 26, a meeting was held between Governing Council of the IPL and BCCI officials. During the meeting, the panel revealed their opinions on the matter.
However, BCCI and IPL officials have not revealed about the discussions. Although, some sources have said that the Radhakrishnan panel has cleared CVC Capitals’s participation in IPL 2021, a final verdict from BCCI is awaited.
“An opinion on CVC was sought by the BCCI. The panel has given its opinion. The committee’s involvement ended once the opinion was given. Now it is up to the BCCI to accept or reject it,” a source told Cricbuzz.
IPL 2022 To Have 10 Teams
BCCI had announced the addition of two new teams for IPL 2022. As a result, a bidding process was conducted in UAE earlier in October for forming the two new franchises. After the bidding process, Lucknow and Ahmedabad were chosen as the two new franchises. RPSG group won the bid for the Lucknow team with a bid of Rs. Rs 7090 crores while CVC Capitals won the rights for the Ahmedabad franchise with a bid of Rs. 5625 crore.
A mega auction is also set to be conducted ahead of IPL 2022. So far, the old 8 teams have retained a total of 27 players in their squad. IPL 2022 mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Before the auction, the two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be allowed to pick three players in their teams outside the auction.
