Aakash Chopra thinks Ishan Kishan and Shikhar Dhawan may have dropped down the pecking order for a position in Team India’s T20 squad.
KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma would be the favored openers for the team’s upcoming short-format assignments, according to the cricketer-turned-commentator.
Ishan Kishan and Shikhar Dhawan, he said, will have to settle for their opportunities in T20Is. Chopra, addressing on his YouTube channel, said:
“Ishan Kishan and Shikhar Dhawan have no chance in the T20I squad. The openers will be KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli is ranked third, trailed by Suryakumar Yadav at number four. Hardik Pandya has returned, and I’d include him in my starting XI, along with Rishabh Pant. Rahul Tripathi is a candidate for the fifth position.”

Aakash Chopra also mentioned that selectors should consider Rahul Tripathi in T20Is because he did well in the IPL 2022. In the unavailability of Suryakumar Yadav, he reckons the talented right-hander may be an excellent option.
However, he stated that Rahul Tripathi will not be favored in the starting XI over Shreyas Iyer.
Aakash Chopra added, “With Suryakumar Yadav out, he has a good chance of making India’s T20 squad.” He can be a player in the team, and you can give us the opportunity anytime you choose.” I was hoping he’d get a shot before Shreyas Iyer. But Iyer did a fantastic job against Sri Lanka, and I don’t think he’ll lose his spot even if the IPL season isn’t particularly successful.”
This year, Rahul Tripathi’s batsmanship has impressed many. For his franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 31-year-old has put up a number of memorable performances (SRH). He is the leading run-getter for his team this season, with 393 runs from 13 games.
