Kieron Pollard has struggled to showcase his big-hitting game for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2022, according to Aakash Chopra.

In the Indian Premier League match against the Lucknow Super Giants Friday night (April 24), Pollard hit 19 runs off 20 balls (LSG). MI ended up losing the game by 36 runs, their eighth straight loss this season.

In IPL 2022, Aakash Chopra remarked on the dismal performances of several of Mumbai Indians’ key hitters. He had this to say about Pollard:

“Kieron Pollard’s bat isn’t even hitting the ball. Anything he does, he will only play run-a-ball. Several times, it appears that Jaydev Unadkat is striking the ball harder than he is. This is the reality in which this group finds itself.”

While pointing out that Ishan Kishan is experiencing a negative run to Pollard, Aakash Chopra slammed MI captain Rohit Sharma’s shot selection.

“Ishan Kishan’s bat isn’t hitting the ball at all. It’s interesting to see how a player’s confidence may plummet. When you notice the person is unable to bat, tears well up in your eyes.

“He was trying, and the method he got out couldn’t be any worse. What was it again? Rohit Sharma was in good form until he made a terrible shot to get out,” Chopra continued.

Aakash Chopra on Mumbai Indians’ eighth straight loss:

The Mumbai Indians’ poor performance in the IPL 2022, as per Aakash Chopra, demonstrates the whims of the game of cricket. He remarked:

“Mumbai suffered their seventh loss. They are not treating the name of victory seriously; they win the toss but lose a game. This game is a great leveller.”

“You’re a five-time winner, so no matter how poorly you play, how terrible the auction was, whatever you do, you’re not going to be losing all eight games.”

The Mumbai Indians have failed to register a win for the IPL 2022 season and are now ranked last in the standings.
