IPL 2022: A Lot Of Bowlers Were Used Out Of Order - Aakash Chopra Bemused With Faf du Plessis' Captaincy Against Gujarat Titans

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis made some questionable calls during RCB’s game against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday, as per former cricketer Aakash Chopra.

After setting a target of 171, RCB opened the bowling with spinners which failed to make sense to Chopra. Knowing that the openers of GT, Saha, and Gill, are quality players against spin, the 37-year-old should have given the pacers the priority.

“When Gujarat Titans got to bat, I didn’t understand the captaincy. Why will you get Glenn Maxwell at the start, Wriddhiman Saha does not have any problem against spin, nor does Shubman Gill.”

“A lot of bowlers were used out of order, Shahbaz also bowled, I said ‘what are you doing?’ Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj are there, get them to bowl, they will pick up wickets for you, that’s what I felt,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

At one stage, RCB was well on top and had GT under the pump. They could have put the final nail in the coffin but Rahul Tewatia failed to budge and he scored a brilliant 25-ball 43 alongside David Miller (39 off 24 balls) to take GT to the top of the table once again.

“There was a partnership and then it got broken. Hardik Pandya was dismissed early. Shahbaz Ahmed dismisses him and Shubman, Wanindu Hasaranga dismisses Wriddhiman Saha, and Sai Sudharsan. Suddenly, Gujarat Titans were looking down the barrel.”

“There comes Rahul Tewatia. He has been part of the Indian squad but did not get a chance.

“He used to play for Rajasthan, when he went to the auction, a lot of teams placed bids on him but it was always the question that does he have it in him. Rahul has done one more Tewatia, he has been absolutely sensational,” he further mentioned.
