IPL 2022: Lot Of Young Careers Have Taken Off When Given Opportunity - Sanjay Manjrekar Suggests Changes For Mumbai Indians
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar recommended Mumbai Indians (MI) give chances to the youngsters in the team for their final two games now that they cannot qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs.
MI is set to finish at the bottom of the table and they can make the most out of the situation by providing a platform for the budding cricketers in their team and rest the seniors.
“Absolutely, there is nothing to play for and a lot of young careers have taken off when they get an opportunity to play in a non-pressure game.”
“So there is a case for someone like Rohit Sharma and Jaspritn Bumrah to rest, Ishan Kishan to bat down the order. Now they have just got to plan for the future and look at other options,” Manjrekar was quoted as saying in a conversation with ESPNcricinfo.
“I guess it is time for Rohit Sharma to bat down the order” – Sanjay Manjrekar
Considering Rohit’s form in the ongoing season, he can demote himself and try out different combinations at the top, as per Manjrekar. This might also help Rohit try out something different, something he hasn’t done as many times before.
“Yes, the time has come. We know that in a different event like the T20 World Cup and Rohit Sharma will still be that dangerous player at the top of the order.”
“In the IPL when you are playing so many games, there isn’t the kind of pressure that you get in an international game. But I guess it is time for Rohit Sharma to bat down the order, see how the others respond to that same challenge,” he further added.
