The media rights for the next cycle (2023-27) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been categorized into four packages. Several big brands – Sony, Disney, TV18-Viacom, Zee, and Amazon – have bought the Invitation To Tender (ITT) as well.
These are the names of the companies that have surfaced so far but there are plenty of others that haven’t been confirmed yet. Additionally, the deadline to buy the ITT has been set to May 10. They will bid for the rights in the E-auction which will be held on June 12.
“Transparency will be the key and the revenues coming from sale or rights will be directed to India’s domestic structure, better infrastructure and welfare of the cricketing fraternity,” Jay Shah told TOI.
Notably, the 4 packages introduced have their base price set at INR 32,890 crores. The BCCI has kept the per-match base price of the tv rights at INR 49 crores.
“The packages have been divided in a manner where it ensures maximum participation. This will keep the competition intense, and transparent and allow BCCI to maximize its revenue potential to the fullest,” BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said.
The auction will be held for two days – the first day for the first two categories and the second day for the last two categories.
The four categories of the IPL media rights package:
