IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Extremely Happy To Be Part Of Lucknow Super Giants, Says Jason Holder

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder said that Lucknow Super Giants will have a great year in their maiden IPL season.

The Sanjiv Goenka owned Lucknow Super Giants purchased Holder for INR 8.75 crore on Saturday in the IPL 2022 auction. Holder had kept his base price at 1.5 crores and Mumbai Indians were the first team to bid for him. Mumbai Indians franchise was joined by their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in the race of acquiring Holder’s services.

Lucknow Super Giants bought Jason Holder for INR 8.75 crore

When the bid went up to INR 5.25 crores, both Mumbai and Chennai pulled themselves out of the race for the West Indies all-rounder who saw a new competition between Lucknow and Rajasthan Royals as both teams were giving their best to seal the deal.

Lucknow finally bagged Holder’s deal at INR 8.75 crore after Rajasthan went backseat for the West Indies all-rounder. Holder, who has previously played for CSK, SRH and KKR, said he was happy to join the new team of Lucknow Super Giants.

“Extremely happy to be part of Lucknow Super Giants. This year is going to be a big year for this franchise not only because it is their first year but I expect really good things based on the team we are put together. So thank you so much guys and let’s go, Giants,” Holder said in a video uploaded on the franchise’s official Twitter page.

Holder has scored 189 runs from 16 IPL innings at the strike rate of 121.15 and has also scalped 35 wickets at an economy rate of 8.2.

Lucknow Super Giants have also purchased the likes of Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya and Quinton de Kock. The team had named star Indian batter KL Rahul, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and young spinner Ravi Bishnoi in their initial draft signings, Rahul will lead the Lucknow team in its maiden IPL tournament.
