Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori is agreeable to the notion of Rohit Sharma, who is now out of rhythm, being moved down the batting lineup for the remainder of the IPL 2022 season.

Daniel Vettori believes that batting at No. 3 or No. 4 rather than beginning the innings will give the Mumbai Indians (MI) captain a new lease on life and “may just free him up.”

The Mumbai Indians have all but eliminated themselves from contention for the postseason. They’ll have to rely on other outcomes to finish in the top four even if they win their remaining seven games.

In such times, finding desire can be difficult, but Lynn proposes that MI use the chance to try out new lineups, look at the players like Tim David, and give inexperienced players on the bench a chance. He expressed himself as follows:

“I believe it is an opportunity to develop young players while also utilizing the high-priced players acquired at the auction. For me, I believe it is a no-brainer. Use your high-priced players, your Tim Davids. They’re there to accomplish exactly that.”

He acknowledged that choosing Rohit starts for India would be challenging, but added that following MI’s seven consecutive losses, “it might have been the perfect solution” to changing the tide.

Daniel Vettori elaborated: “We’ve seen players down at three or four in the past, and it might just free him up, [moving] away from a spot he’s so used to. It’s difficult to push Rohit Sharma down the order in these scenarios because he begins for India and is the captain. However, with the season they’ve had, that might be the best option.”

As a middle-order hitter, Rohit’s IPL record is slightly better. He has batted the most in the tournament at No. 4. He has a 32.77 average and a 128.67 strike rate.
