Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Director of Cricket Operations in the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL), Zaheer Khan, has asserted that he always tries to find out the approach of his players towards the game.
Former Indian left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan was appointed as Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Director of Cricket Operations in 2019 and since then he has played a key role in MI’s success in the cash-rich league.
Speaking on Mumbai Indians’ official website, Zaheer Khan said that it is crucial for the players to know each other in the team as everyone has a different story. He added that he always tries to find out where the players have come from.
He said: “You learn through conversations. But conversations and the experiences are something you know which if you can share, then that process becomes faster. It’s important to get to know each other. Each individual has its own story. So I always try and find out where they have come from and what kind of approach they have towards the game.”
The talk is around just the technical side, the mental aspects of the game – Zaheer Khan
Former Indian pacer further added that he generally talks about the mental and technical aspects of the game with his players.
He elaborated: “So yeah, generally the talk is around just the technical side, the mental aspects of the game. Sometimes you know, in different phases in your career, you think differently.
“I think once you get to know each other, anyone should be comfortable and coming up to and having conversations if I can be of any help. It’s very satisfying.”
Meanwhile, the 5-time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians have had an awful run in the Indian Premier League 2022 as they faced 8 defeats in a row before finally winning a game in the tournament in the 9th game.
Rohit Sharma’s MI defeated Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the DY Patil Sports Academy in the last over of the match to win a game.
