Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed was all set to join Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) as a replacement for the injured Mark Wood. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) denied him giving the NOC and in the process, dashed his hopes of making his debut in the IPL.

His Bangladesh teammate Mustafizur Rahman spoke about Taskin missing his golden opportunity to play in the IPL before leaving for India to join Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2022. The left-arm seamer was picked up by Delhi for 2 crores.

”Our team will play games (Test series against South Africa) and Taskin is our best bowler at the moment. So apart from giving him consolation, I don’t have anything else to do (for missing the IPL)” said The Fizz in a presser before leaving for India.

Taskin Ahmed was in red-hot form in the ODI series against South Africa taking 8 wickets in three matches including a fifer in the final ODI in Centurion. In the absence of the Fizz now, Taskin will lead the Bangladesh pace-bowling attack in the Test series.

Mustafizur Rahman next opened up on him being roped in by Delhi Capitals ahead of the season and how he is looking forward to the season. He is the only Bangladesh cricketer to feature in the season as Shakib Al Hasan went unsold at the auction. So far in the IPL, Rehman has taken 38 wickets in 38 matches. He has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the league so far.

“Earlier, Bangladeshi people were divided by two groups during the IPL, as me and Shakib bhai used to feature there but this time round all eyes will be fixed on me because Shakib is available across formats (for the national team). And that is why he is not picked in the IPL.”

Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign against five-time champion Mumbai Indians on March 27.
