If reports are to be believed, then the playoff matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) are expected to be played at two venues in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. At the moment, the 70-league stage matches of the tournament are being played across 4 venues in Maharashtra.
The IPL 2022 is in full swing with all the teams looking to make a mark as the tournament progresses. While some of them look to continue the splendid run that they have been enjoying so far, others who are struggling as of now are looking to make amends in the coming matches as the competition heats up.

While four venues in Maharashtra- Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune- are hosting the league stage matches involving the ten participating teams, reports have suggested that the four playoff matches including the two qualifiers, one eliminator and the IPL 2022 final might be played at two different venues than these.
It Would Be Great If IPL 2022 Playoff Matches Can Be Held In Lucknow And Ahmedabad Respectively: Reports
Sources close to the developments stated that Lucknow and Ahmedabad might get hosting rights in the playoffs as the two new teams from those cities have been added this season. Ahmedabad is the venue for the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, the world’s largest cricket stadium with a capacity of 1.32 lakhs.
On the other hand, Lucknow plays host to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium with a seating capacity of 50,000.
If everything goes according to the plan, Lucknow might host the first qualifier and the eliminator while Ahmedabad will get hosting rights of the second qualifier and the final.

“Since Lucknow and Ahmedabad have joined this year it would be great if playoff matches can be held in Lucknow and Ahmedabad respectively. This is what we have discussed few days back. Some of the officials are on the same page of thought and soon we will have our meeting and if everything goes as discussed then you might see Lucknow and Ahmedabad host the playoff matches,” a source said while speaking to Sports Tak.
The IPL is currently being played between 10 teams for the first time since the 2011 edition.
