I’m Loving It at Rajasthan Royals
Ashwin compared his time at CSK with his time at Rajasthan Royals, his 5th franchise in the IPL. He mentioned that he is enjoying his time at the Royals. “To be very honest, it (Rajasthan Royals) is one of those dressing rooms that I wouldn’t have expected to be in but I’m enjoying it. Really light, it’s a lot of fun and also the people who wear the RR batch closer to their heart, behind their jersey are quite special so I’m kinda enjoying it,” said Ashwin.
Ashwin spent most of his time with CSK in his formative years as he played for the franchise from 2008 to 2015, then he played for Pune Super Giants, Punjab Kings’ and Delhi Capitals for 2 years each. In 2018 he was picked up by Punjab Kings in the Mega Auctions. He captained them for a couple of years before moving to Delhi Capitals. He still holds the record for 2nd most number of wickets for CSK as he has 120 wickets for the franchise in 121 matches.
When asked about the infamous run-out incident of 2018 with Jos Buttler and his first interaction between the two players at RR Ashwin said that he find it cute. “I think, that narratives are built around incidents like this. He said Hi, I said Hi again and we ended up having a very good chat about the state of cricket around the world.”
Ashwin also revealed that Rajasthan Royals are looking at the potential of owning a team in the women’s IPL. The BCCI is planning a women’s IPL and they hope to start it from the next year onwards.
