IPL 2022: RCB Skipper Faf du Plessis Hits His First Practice Session, Says It's Nice To Be Outdoors After Quarantine

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis had his first practice session after staying in mandatory quarantine for three days. The franchise roped him in at the mega auction and also announced him as the skipper of the season. Faf take over the captaincy from Virat Kohli who led the season from 2013-to 2021. 

Speaking to RCB’s official Twitter handle, Faf du Plessis said it was nice to get out in fresh air after the three days of quarantine. He then took over with his first practice session where he was seen taking a few throwdowns after which he did some fielding drills.

“Yeah, it’s nice to be practicing. Out of the room after three days quarantine, It’s just nice to be outdoors. So, the first day, I’ll not take it too aggressively, a little easy stretch and run around but just really nice to be outside” du Plessis said. 

“So, I started with some throwdowns just to feel bat on the ball again, just to feel my technique, then went to the next stage of facing some stick bowling and some spin bowling. It’s almost like the result and the pressure of batting on a day one and you just get your body movement again” Faf further said about his first practice session. 

Faf hs played for CSK and Rising Pune Supergiants in the past in the IPL. This is the first time he is not playing alongside MS Dhoni in the IPL. He spoke about the importance of Virat Kohli in the RCB squad and how big a plus it is for him to share the responsibilities with him. The franchise kicks off their IPL 2022 campaign by playing against Punjab Kings on March 27 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

“His (Kohli’s) achievement as a cricket player has been probably one of the greatest, so big respect for what he’s done not just with the bat in his hand but also in terms of captaincy, he’s revolutionized Indian cricket,” Du Plessis said.
