Unlike the last few seasons of Indian Premier League, IPL 2022 will be a 10-team event instead of 8. BCCI has added two new franchises to the tournament- Lucknow and Ahmadabad. Hence, a mega auction is also set to take place ahead of 2022 edition and the old 8 teams can retain 4 players in their squad.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is among the strongest teams in IPL. The team has not managed to win any title so far but has reached final on three occasions. In IPL 2021, the team qualified for playoffs but lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in Eliminator clash. RCB have some incredible players in the squad whom they cannot release in the next season. Here we talk about the best predicted list of players whom RCB can retain in IPL 2022.

Virat Kohli is definitely the first player that Royal Challengers Bangalore will retain in IPL 2022. Although Kohli has left captaincy of the team, he is a prominent batsman. With 6283 runs in 199 innings, he is the leading run-getter in IPL and the only batsman to reach the 6000-run mark.

In IPL 2021, he mustered 405 runs in 15 games at an average of 28.92 and 3 fifties. Virat Kohli is one of the top batsmen in international cricket and RCB will not release him from the squad anytime soon.

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is another player that the team might retain in IPL 2022. The Australian batter became a part of the team last season; when RCB bought him for Rs. 14.25 during IPL 2021 auction. He compensated this massive amount with his astonishing batting show in the tournament.

Maxwell slammed 513 runs in 14 innings at an average of 42.75 and strike rate of 144+, smacking 6 half-centuries. The right-handed batsman finished as the top run-getter for the team and 5th highest overall. With the ouster of AB de Villiers from IPL, Glenn Maxwell will be on the franchise’s eyesight for retentions.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the third player that Royal Challengers Bangalore might choose to retain in IPL 2021. Spinners have a lot of value in IPL and Chahal is one of the top spinners in India. The leg spinner ended as the top wicket-taker for RCB in IPL 2021, picking 18 wickets in 15 games at an average of 20.77 and an economy of 7.05.

Devdutt Padikkal might be the 4th player that RCB might retain in IPL 2022. The left-handed batsman joined the franchise in his debut edition in 2020 and has performed over the top so far. He is a powerful opener with his hard-hitting style of batting.

In IPL 2021, he slammed 411 runs in 14 games at an average of 31.61 and a strike rate of 125+. The Karnataka player also slammed one unbeaten century. Being 21 years old at present, Padikkal can be a good investment for the franchise in the future.
