Shane Watson, the Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach, praised Prithvi Shaw, the team’s opening batsman.

The former all-rounder seemed to be blown away by the Mumbai cricketer’s ability, describing him as “extremely skilled.”

Watto’s Wrap, a section on the YouTube channel ‘The Grade Cricketer,’ praised Shaw for his ability to pick apart the greatest of bowlers. He stated:

“Prithvi Shaw is tremendously talented. He’s ripping through the bowlers he’s facing, such as Bumrah. Simply because of his abilities, he is a freak. He’s a complete nut.”

Shaw got off to a fantastic start in the competition against the Mumbai Indians in the first game (MI). The 22-year-old smashed four fours and two sixes in his innings of 38 runoff only 24 balls. His efforts, along with those of Lalit Yadav (48* off 38 balls) and Axar Patel (38* off 17 balls), enabled the Capitals to overcome the Mumbai Indians by four wickets to open the competition on a high note.

Shane Watson is hoping for a strong start from Prithvi Shaw:

Since bringing Prithvi Shaw on board, the Delhi Capitals have shown a lot of faith in him. With some clinical performances, the youngster has returned the management’s faith in him.
The Capitals will be hoping that he continues to shine this season and provides the team with some reliable starts

Shaw’s fitness, on the other hand, could be a cause of worry in the future. Just before the start of the IPL 2022, the player failed the BCCI’s yo-yo test. According to sources, he got a score of less than 15 on this test, although the least required score is 16.5.

“This is merely a fitness boost. This does not prevent Prithvi from representing the Delhi Capitals in the IPL “PTI quoted a BCCI source as saying. “It’s merely a fitness metric, not the end-all solution. He has now played three Ranji matches in a row. When you play three first-class games in a row, weariness can have an impact on your yo-yo score.”

The Delhi Capitals’ next game will be on April 2 at Pune, against the Gujarat Titans (GT).
