IPL 2022: Shubman Gill Names Ex-KKR Pacer As X-Factor For Gujarat Titans

Former KKR opener Shubman Gill will be plying his trade for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. KKR released him ahead of the mega auction and Gujarat picked him as one of their three draft picks. Alongside, Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan, he will be one of the key players for the franchise. 

Gujarat Titans picked a well-rounded squad at the auction. They packed their side with some multi-dimensional players with Hardik Pandya at the helm of affairs. Gill has pointed out an ex-KKR pacer as the X-factor for the Titans. The franchise added Lockie Ferguson for 10 crores to their squad and Gill believes he will be crucial for the new franchise in the season going forward. 

Lockie Ferguson Was A Huge Asset For Us At KKR: Shubman Gil

“Yeah, I think Lockie Ferguson, when we were in the Kolkata Knight Riders, he was a huge asset for us, and I am sure he is going to be a huge X-factor for us in the Gujarat Titans squad,” Shubman said while replying to a query during an interaction with the media on Sunday.

Ferguson has picked up 24 wickets from 22 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders in the past few seasons. On the other hand, Gill, who was a part of KKR’s leadership group has scored 1417 runs at an average of 31.48 in 58 matches for the franchise.

His role now for the Titans would be to provide a good start to the team. Ferguson is a part of a bowling attack that has Mohammed Shami, Alzarri Joseph, Pradeep Sangwan and Varun Aaron. Thus there is no shortage of pace in the line-up.

Gujarat Titans are placed in group A alongside KKR, RR, DC and Mumbai Indians. They play Lucknow Supergiants in their first game of IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium on March 28.
