Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowling coach Dale Steyn asserted his method of coaching players in the team.

SRH suffered their fourth straight loss on Sunday after a 67-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The defeat raises eyebrows about the Orange Army’s qualification for the IPL 2022 playoffs.

Kane Williamson & co-started the tournament with successive defeats but showed a strong statement after winning five games on the trot. They were positioned in second place on the points table at one stage but once again they slumped down to the sixth position after drubbing in the last four games.

I’m still looking at things from the player’s perspective: Dale Steyn

Steyn, who joined the SRH coaching camp this year, said he is trying to fathom things from a player’s perspective. The South Africa bowling great also said he doesn’t focus much on coaching.

I’m still looking at things from the player’s perspective, like how they are feeling mentally or physically. I don’t do much coaching, I stand at the top of the mark, and talk a lot bowling, the plans, what comes out of hand differently,” Steyn told Star Sports ahead of SRH’s clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.

“But once the tournament begins, it is all about being fresh mentally and do stuff which keeps you on top during training,” he added.

I get out to the pool for two hours and enjoy the workouts: Dale Steyn

Steyn revealed how he copes with the bio-bubble environment and cheekily remarked about teaching SRH pacers his trademark celebration style.

“Lots of YouTube, fishing, and surfing content has helped me cope with bubble life, I get out to the pool for two hours and enjoy with the workouts, training sessions,” the former South Africa pacer said.

“That’s what I’m coaching (the chainsaw celebration). I picked it up from Brett Lee, Marco Jansen is catching, and so is  Umran Malik. Long may it continue,” he added.

SRH will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 14 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
