IPL 2022: The Decision To Hand Over Captaincy Back To MS Dhoni Taken By Team Management - CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan
Chennai Super Kings has struggled in the ongoing season of IPL under the leadership of Ravindra Jadeja as the team has managed just two wins out of the 8 games they have played.
Not only has the team struggled, Ravindra Jadeja too was having a tough time with both bat and the ball as he has not been at his best in the tournament at all.
MS Dhoni Had Given Captaincy To Ravindra Jadeja Just Two Days Prior To The Start Of The Season
Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali were retained by CSK ahead of the mega auctions. Everyone was expecting Dhoni to lead the side in IPL 2022 as well, but in a shocking turn of events just two days prior to the start of the tournament the franchise announced that Jadeja would be taking over the reins from Dhoni looking at the future.
But poor performance in the season has meant that Dhoni would be back to lead CSK in their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“It will always be a smooth process. After all, the decision has been taken by the team management. We do not interfere in that. This is a decision they would have taken themselves. They would have talked and taken the decision, “Kasi Vishwanathan CSK CEO told NDTV.
“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game”, said the official statement released by the franchise.
MS Dhoni has been in great touch as a batter in the season. Now as he takes over the captaincy again CSK would hope that it can change their fortunes in the tournament.
